Positive thinking is the mainstay to successful
smoking cessation.
It will be normal to have negative thoughts
during the quitting process.
If you begin to think that quitting is too
difficult, just think of the millions of people that have successfully
quit.
If you begin to think that quitting is just not
worth the trouble, think of the benefits
of quitting, and tell yourself how much healthier you will be.
If you begin to feel that you need a cigarette
to help calm you down, or deal with a stressful situation, realize that
cigarettes are not the answer-they are just covering up the things that
bother you, and that instead of a cigarette you need to learn how to
deal better with stress.
If you’ve tried to quit before and failed, and
think you don’t have the willpower, tell yourself it's going to be
different this time - you have a good program.
